CIVIL PROJECT ENGINEER

Contour Engineering is currently recruiting a Project Engineer with preferably 6+ years of civil engineering professional design and project management experience. We are looking for aggressive, self-motivated engineers aspiring to join an expanding engineering firm. The desired candidate will have a Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment, proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and has extensive experience in Civil design and development of construction documents.

Contour Engineering, LLC is a leading engineering consulting firm specializing in comprehensive land development services throughout Washington state, including civil engineering, land surveying, and land planning services. Contour was formed in 2006 by Brett Allen, P.E., and has since grown to over 30 employees as we look to further expand. We offer quality engineering services for private and public work-related projects, with Contour and our staff having worked in nearly every jurisdiction in the Puget Sound Region ranging from Bellingham to Vancouver and Aberdeen to Ellensburg.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage a project both individually and within a design team to provide superior engineering services and solutions on a variety of project types, including, but not limited to, commercial development, single- and multi-family residential, mixed-use complexes, subdivisions, and light industrial facilities. Experience should include the design, analysis, and preparation of civil engineering construction documents such as subdivision design, stormwater analysis, grading plans, site plans, street and utilities improvement plans, etc. A Project Engineering candidate should also be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated design tools.

The following tasks will be performed by the Project Engineer:

• Manage projects and associated budgets worked on individually or within a design team from beginning to project completion.

• Perform civil design quality control of calculations and plan sheets for a variety of projects.

• Lead or participate in design review meetings with other consultants, reviewing jurisdictions, Clients, etc.

• Coordinate civil designs with other disciplines such as architecture, traffic, geotechnical, structural, landscaping, survey, etc.

• Meet with design teams regularly to review project development, status and issues.

• Consider construction costs, jurisdictional regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning the stages of, and risk analysis for, a project.

• Compile and submit permit applications to local and state agencies, verifying that projects comply with various regulations.

• Provide construction cost estimates and other project analyzes.

• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D with associated design tools as well as other design and analysis software (such as WWHM) to plan and design projects within industry and government standards.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and abilities:

• 6-10 years of experience in related civil engineering

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering

• Professional Engineer license preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required.

• Experience in civil site design, analysis, and modeling of stormwater facilities and utilities, and developing drainage and other reports.

• Motivation toward advancement and responsibility

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Works well with others, both individually and as a project team leader

• Experience working with local jurisdictions in Western Washington is preferred

We are located in Gig Harbor, a few minutes off the Burnham Drive Exit. There is plenty of free parking and the site is close to the Gig Harbor North shopping center, as well as the beautiful downtown waterfront along Harborview Drive.
